In coordination with Schneider Electric, OMS developed this motion tracking demo featuring the latest Schneider hardware. OMS designed and built this system, and worked with Schneider Electric to program the complex motion synchronization application of screwing the bolts into the thread. This demo machine showcases the Schneider M262 Motion Controller, Lexium 32 Servo Drives, and much more!

In early 2019, Orbit Motion Systems was contacted by a logistics company to upgrade their obsolete Schneider Electric LMC 20 controller, and 3 LXM05 servo drives. The controller was replaced and reprogrammed with a LMC078 controller and the LXM drives were replaced by LXM32 sercos drives. OMS engineers had to rewrite the entire program, and reset parameters of each individual servo drive and motor. With OMS’s expertise in PacDrive & Soft Motion upgrades, OMS engineers only had to upgrade the controller and drives since the BSH motors installed on the system are still readily available from Schneider Electric requring only a new feedback cable to be installed for each Axis. With OMS’s retrofit knowledge, we were able to extend our customers machine lifetime while maintaining a tight install schedule, and at a fraction of a cost compared to competitors.

This Bahmuller folder Gluer contained an obsolete Schneider Electric ELAU MAx-4 controller, MC-4 servo drives, and SM Servo Motors. When commissioned in 2001, this folder gluer featured the high end ELAU control system. Fast forward nearly 20 years later, and these components were approaching obsolescence. Orbit’s goal was to first extend the life cycle of this effective machine, while their second goal was to reduce the complicated operator and maintenance procedures. OMS engineers replaced the 10 Axis system with the new PacDrive 3 components consisting of an LMC402 controller and LXM52 servo drives with SH servo motors. Apart from replacing the obsolete PacDrive hardware, OMS later replaced the obsolete Siemens master PLC and Siemens I/O to the faster Schneider TM5 sercos I/O modules. Overall, OMS was able to extend this machines life time by another 15-20 years while creating a user friendly and maintenance friendly interface accompanied by their local US support!

Orbit Motion Systems has performed several upgrade of various Liba weaving machines. This multi-axis system consisted of a Stober control system which was facing obsolescence and was difficult for the End Users to service. Orbit Motion Systems replaced this Stober control system with the latest Schneider Electric PacDrive 3 technology featuring a LMC402 controller, LXM 62 & LXm52 servo drives, and SH Servo Motors. Apart from the hardware, OMS engineers had to re-write the entire program to work on the Schneider Electric SoMachine motion platform. The end result was a new controls system that extended the machine life time by 15-20 years, while featuring a new, easy to use Human Machine Interface for both operators and maintenance personnel.
